Welcome to Awakened Elements — and thank you for being here at the very beginning. I’m Joshua Whitley, founder (and humble proprietor), checking in with some genuinely exciting news: the Awakened Elements website is officially live and open for business.

This project has been a long time coming, and I’m grateful you’re here to witness — and participate in — its first steps. A Curveball We Didn’t See Coming

Like any new business, we’ve encountered challenges — but this one is… different. One of our flagship products — a USDA organic–certified CBD tincture — was made effectively illegal as of November 2026 due to a last-minute provision tucked into a federal spending bill. Here’s an excerpt from an email I received from Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, which explains the situation clearly:

As you may know, the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2026 became law on November 12, 2025. Senator Mitch McConnell secured a provision in the bill that would ban the sale of hemp products that include more than 0.4 milligrams of THC per container… The language in the bill deals a fatal blow to American farmers who are the foundation of the regulated hemp industry and jeopardizes tens of billions of dollars in economic activity around the country…

To be clear: this decision impacts full-spectrum hemp, Delta-8, and even international cannabis seed trade — despite having nothing to do with consumer safety.

Who benefits? Large alcohol and pharmaceutical companies whose market share is shrinking.

Who loses? Farmers. Small businesses. And the public’s access to plant-based wellness.

Taking Action: Save CBD

When I heard the news, I did the only thing that felt right: I registered www.savecbd.org and launched a petition. This petition allows everyday people — customers, farmers, wellness advocates — to formally express opposition to this policy. The signatures collected will be delivered directly to federal representatives, starting with Oregon (who, to be fair, are already doing strong work on this issue).
